A Weekend Interlude
So week one of going to OZC finished. Although I've been completely mentally exhausted at the end of each day (so I'm now well behind on just about everything, sigh) I have coped better than I expected. The weekend started well, other than that I seem to have a virus, but that's "new term syndrome" all over, just like being back at university.
On Saturday we went into Cambridge and spent an hour wandering up and down Mill Road (which is very unlike us, we don't do shopping as a leisure activity normally, but it seemed like a good way of stopping me overdoing things). Despite it being a busy environment I was OK for quite some time, although it caught up with me eventually and I had to "tune out" of the street scene in order to get back to the car without feeling any more unwell.
Sunday was rather different. It started well and I was all bouncy. But then badness came over me and I felt distinctly unwell. Brain completely shut down, numbness in my face to the point where Beth could see it in the way my mouth moved when I spoke. Retired to the sofa and spent most of the day feeling miserable, only cheered by the surprise appearance of Emma, an old friend of ours who we've not seen in four years, on the door step.
