I've had complaints from users about the restriction in the Science Park which is meant to stop rat running cars using the Science Park as a short cut, but not cyclists using the route. One correspondent writes:
The width restriction is bad enough, forcing cyclists and motorists to complete for the same narrow gap, but when the step is raised it will be totally impassable and will force cyclists into the middle of the road to use the bus gate - not a pleasant thing to have to do.
The pavement on the outbound side is marked as shared-use but there are no dropped kerbs in any of the locations where cyclists need them. For a cyclist to use the pavement at the moment will involve either lifting their bike up and down the kerb or making awkward and inconvenient diversions (not visible on the photo) at each end. And for cyclists on the inbound side the pavement is no use whatsoever. This is simply a pavement with shared-use signs, and there is absolutely nothing on the ground to suggest that the designers thought of cycles when building it.
In conclusion, this road does not provide a safe and convenient route for cyclists, and the pavement does not provide a suitable alternative.
I've also had complaints about the access to the Science Park by the level crossing. See this page. However this is not actually in Milton parish.
