Day 2 ...

»

... and already it's not going well. In my defence I've not been well today. I went out for supper last night at the White Horse with the regular Sunday crew and, as is often the way after a chatty but enjoyable evening, I'm suffering for it today. Oh well, that's life: better that than stuck here in the house moping.

So what have I got done? Not a lot really. I've added a link to the bottom of all the "wibblings" pages pointing people to my new Twitter account @Wibblings, I've fought with the new OS OpenSpace mapping application and its alleged support for mobile devices (and lost), and I've been window shopping for cameras (again) and phones.

The phone thing is because I'm coming to the conclusion that perhaps what I should do is not get another camera (having just sold three, I've now only two left) but instead get a new phone with a better camera as the one on the Defy is pretty poor. As the camera on my phone is normally the one I have on me when I see something that needs photographing a new phone with a better camera makes more sense than yet another camera.

I'm currently down to a shortlist of two: the HTC Desire HD which is a couple of years old now but was bleeding edge at the time and has a very good camera and you can put Android 4.0 on it reliably, and even 4.1 at a push; or the Google Nexus 4. What puts me off the latter is that it doesn't have either a micro SHDC slot or an exchangeable battery. The first of these isn't a huge problem if you buy the 16GB version but the second could be downstream as the battery gets tired. My Defy is two years old and, after 700 charge cycles, is now on its second battery for this very reason.

Anyway, I failed to come to any real conclusion so I didn't buy anything in the end1.

  1. Although I did walk to Tesco to buy milk and bread and somehow came away with fish, prawns, salad, grapes, bananas and strawberry cheesecake - see, this is what happens when you shop with a migraine.
