Not too well again today but here's some quotes from Peter Hennessy's Having It So Good which I'm reading at the moment.

Clement Atlee apparently subscribed to "the ethics of Christianity. Can't believe the mumbo-jumbo"¹.

Winston Churchill said of the after-life "I believe that death is the end ... when it comes to dying I shall not complain. I shall not miaow"².

Nothing I can disagree with there but somehow I can't imagine a modern Prime Minister being so honest, even in private, for fear of offending someone.
