Teslathon

I went to the Teslathon at the Cambridge Museum of Technology a couple of Saturdays ago and took some video which I've not got around to putting online ... until now.

First some pretty standard stuff: two clips of a large Tesla coil doing its stuff.

But this on one of the stalls interested me:

It's essentially a xylophone. Each plastic tube has a spark gap in it and they randomly spark. The spark heats the air so you get a note. (The glowing stuff on the table to the left is just some programmable LED arrays - impressive, but digital, the analogue stuff is more fun.)
