This is the first (and probably the last) time I've written about football here. It's not a sport that interests me a lot1 but today I should at least mention Histon's famous victory over Leeds in the FA Cup.
Histon is the next village to the west of us and their village team has been doing pretty well in recent years and now plays in the Blue Square Premier League so they're quite senior for a non-League team but it's still a famous victory. From what I can gather the team is semi-pro, so they're paid a retainer but they've got day jobs. For example Histon centre-back Matthew Langston who headed in the winning goal is a postman in real life.
It was at home too so Histon was expecting things to be a little chaotic today with the major road through the village closed to give Leeds' coaches somewhere to park and the local pub ordering three times their normal volume of beer.
They've now drawn Swansea, at home again, in the third round.
