It was a last minute decision. If the weather was okay, and Paul was okay, then maybe we'd go. We did, and what an excellent weekend!...

The campsite was a bit grim however. The field they put us in was great, it was away from the Tom Jones alike singing his heart out in the marquee, and the ground wasn't too stoney for getting tent pegs in. It was the toilets. They were just awful. Probably hadn't been cleaned all summer. There was also a big eagle owl in an enclosure near reception. He chatted to us when we went down to visit the posh loo's one evening. I really hope he is flown, otherwise it would be a pretty grim life for a wol; just an 'attraction' in a cage.

The walking was great. On Saturday Paul wanted to circumnavigate the Talybont Reservoir which we could do from the campsite. The walk out along the towpath was splendid. And we chanced upon a section of the Brinore Tramroad. The path still has signs of the old track bed; stones with the pattern of the sleepers worn into them and placed in regular distance apart. Paul read the explanation board as I was taking the odd photo: Brinore Tramroad

On Sunday we went for a short walk up Pen y Fan. The weather was fantastic, which helped the excellent views: View from the way up Pen y Fan
