Flooding on the Cam

view towards the lock, Feb 2001

In 2001 the River Cam in Milton burst its banks twice, once in February and again in October. This is the first time I've seen it do this in the five years we've lived here, although it's done it many times in the past, so each time I took pictures and posted them on the Web.

The pages evolved as the floods progressed and also became an index for other people's pages of pictures of the flooding in Cambridge.

If you really want to see impressive flooding though you need to go to the Welney washes. I took pictures there on 12th November 2000 and made this panoramic image. All the water you can see is normally land.
