Timex Pulls It Off

»

I've been trying to find a watch that beeps more often than every hour as a way of compensating for my problems with attention. It took some time to track down something suitable and the Timex Ironman range turned out to have the functionality I was looking for. The one I went for was the Ironman Triathlon 50 Lap Sleek. It offers two timers:

  • A countdown timer with repeat. The way this works is that you set it for the interval you want, fifteen minutes say. After fifteen minutes it sounds an alarm for about ten seconds. If you acknowledge this by pressing a button it stops sooner. Either way the countdown timer is automatically reset and starts counting down again.

  • An interval timer. This is similar to the countdown timer, but when it finishes counting down it beep twice - there's no need to acknowledge it - and as with countdown timer it starts counting down again. (It's actually smarter than this: you can set two time periods, and it then counts down the two alternatively, so you can set 15 and 5 minute intervals, useful for sport but not for me.)

The watch also has three alarms which are useful for remembering events. I can set up alarms in the morning for things I have to remember during the day.

Overall it's easy to use, has a good interface, and lights up at night in a good way using their Indiglo™ feature. It's also very reasonably priced. I got mine for £29.99 from Argos.
