A Surprise from Phoenix

»

A long letter arrived today from Phoenix. I opened it with some trepidation as I wasn't expecting good news. But I was wrong. They acknowledge they've got the calculation wrong and they've been underpaying me ... but by far more than I knew as it seems that they've been underpaying me for some years.

I confess I'd not read and understood the calculations in detail yet. I don't really understand how it can have happened unless they got it wrong at the very start of the claim.

Anyway the bottom line is rather than them owing me a few hundred for the last few months they owe me ... £3,276.34 and a cheque was enclosed! My payments from now on will also rise by about £60 a month.

So I'm a little bit shocked at the moment.

In truth although the money is nice by far the most important thing at the moment is that this does look like it's finally sorted out, which takes a huge weight off me and may help with my current problems.
