My trusty Tilley hat was looking badly in need of a wash so I put it in the machine with some other things yesterday and was distressed when it came out with two holes in. I guess the fabric must have got weak there and simply couldn't cope with the beating. But the good news is that Tilley hats really are guaranteed for life so it's off to Cornwall to be replaced. Long live the Tilley Hat!
