Where's the Fair?

»

Well this morning's plan was to sail to Bridlington and we set off at some ungodly hour in order to catch the tide. Sailing out of the Humber is quite exciting: lots of big cargo vessels going up and down a lot faster than us. It's like sailing on the Thames.

Anyway once we were clear of the Humber things calmed down a bit and there was very little traffic about. We saw lots of seals, most of whom were watching us back, sea birds and great fields of lobster pot buoys (which helped keep the crew on his toes)

We made excellent time, so much that we decided to skip Bridlington and head for Scarborough, which is where we are now, moored in their shiney new marina. It still need some work: the toilets are a long way away and the WiFi doesn't work but they're nice moorings, with power and hoses too.

We arrived here a bit after seven and after sorting outselves out and paying we wandered into town, past the sub-Great Yarmouth amusement arcades and up into town where we found a vaguely plausible Italian1.

Tomorrow we head for Hartlepool to see what we can find out about French monkeys.

  1. Hmmm ... more pizza for Paul, I think I start to see a pattern emerging here.
