« | A Windy Walk |
» |
This weekend's been a windy one, lots of low pressure out to the west, but we went for a brief but excellent walk over Quy Fen this afternoon and got back to the truck just as the rain arrived.
We didn't go far. Just to the memorial stone to William Ison on the Fen proper and then back. It was a gorgeous afternoon. A strong wind but the sun was out and everything in the world was pin sharp. We didn't see a soul either which added to the magic - it's normally pretty busy over there on a Sunday afternoon.
The only sour note was that we came across a rabbit on the Fen which had myxomatosis. Sadly there's a lot of this about at the moment and we've seen quite a few dead rabbits on recent walks. This one was still alive but had all the classic symptoms. Poor little sod couldn't see a thing and didn't even hear me or smell me as I walked up to it and caught it but as least I was able to put it out of its misery.
Walking back it had started to cloud over and spit with rain but then we got the sun break through under the cloud which gave a stunning scene with the dark sky over a well lit landscape. I took a couple of pics with my phone.

A great afternoon to be out in the countryside.
