No Flooding Yet

»

I walked down Fen Road to the Cam this morning expecting the fields to be starting to flood given reports I've seen only to discover that although the field opposite by Biggin Abbey was awash the river seemed to be going down as there was a definite "tide mark" of debris on the bank.

I bumped into one of the Conservators. He said he had been out on Saturday and they had opened both lock gates as by then it was pretty much level both sides, which presumably was why everything got rather high downstream and some fields were flooded, but they'd since closed the lock gate again.

So, for now at least, no return to 2001.
