25 years ago today is the date Beth and I have deemed that we started going out. I say that as it's complicated. We met online, on the CIX BBS in the landrover conference, and so in 1996 we were early to discover the thing that people online have continued to find since: that long distance relationships are tricky. Yesterday we were up early after a crappy night's sleep but the forecast was looking good and low tide was at 11am so we thought we'd go and see if we could find the seals which allegedly gather at the mouth of the River Findhorn at low tide.  read more ...

I know a lot of people use it but I'm not a great fan of Facebook Messenger. I think part of the reason is that it's imposed upon you: if you use Facebook then, implicitly, you are using Messenger. I can find no way of saying "I don't use Messenger" and people assume you do. So they message you anyway. Sometimes about stuff that matters, and that's a problem.  read more ...

Rydal Cave

Classic example of the best camera is the one that's with you. I really needed a better camera for this shot but at least my phone camera app will let me over and under expose so I was able to push the EV so I could see inside the cave a little while deliberately blowing out the entrance.

Oldham Christmas 2013

So as is (semi-) traditional my sibs and I gathered at my parents house yesterday with husbands, wives, children and dogs. Dad took a photo with his little compact which he's just emailed to me so here it is. I am still the tallest but Jamie is now over 6' and is only 16 so I may lose the crown shortly.
